How to Remove Dark Water Stains From Wood

You leave your water glass on your bedside table and bam! There’s a water stain within no time. Household furniture and items can lose their look and vibe if they have water stains on them. Removing them can be a menace. Worry not, we have you covered, but before we tell you how to clean the stain, you need to know if the stain is new or has been there for some time. The most common stains occur when the water has speared the finish of the wood. These are known as white water stains.
If the stain is new and fresh, remove it as quick as you can. Below are three easy steps to remove fresh stains from your favorite furniture piece.

How to Remove Dark Water Stains From Wood

Step 1: Buffing

Use a soft cotton cloth to absorb the water from the wood. A soft cloth ensures that the wood paint is not scratched. Once all the liquid has been absorbed into the cloth, you can move to the next step.

Step 2: Blow-drying

If you feel that the wood is still wet after buffing as there is still a clear, visible stain, you can always blow-dry the area to get rid of the unwanted moisture. Make sure you keep the dryer on a low setting. You don’t want to burn the finish and leave heat marks, do you?

Step 3: Polishing

Now that the affected area is completely dry use an oil-based polish like the Howard Products FW0016 Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish to cover it. Any stain still left will now be removed, and your problem is solved.
